BOG 2017 : Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Science's Proud Donors

The 2017 meetings of the Hebrew University Board of Governors were a whirlwind of emotion and excitement, a tribute to the scholars, scientists and students whose achievements garner international acclaim – a tribute to the legion of Friends of the Hebrew University around the world.

For the 147 members of the European Friends who made the journey to Jerusalem, the dedication of the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) in the Suzanne and Charles Goodman Brain Sciences Building was a tribute to nearly 10-year effort of Hebrew University Friends across Europe. Supporting ELSC’s sophisticated research efforts from the Center’s inception, they pursued their goal of building a home for the groundbreaking neuroscience center – the largest in Israel and one of the most ambitious in the world.

“It has been a long journey from inception to completion of ELSC, almost 10 years, but we are here – due in great part – to the European Friends’ generosity,” Antoinette Grosman European Council co-president and Belgian Friends President.

“Thank you for embracing brain research with your philanthropy. It is a testament to your intense love and efforts.” ELSC Director Prof. Israel Nelken
