French filmmaker Claude Lanzmann will visit the Hebrew University


Claude Lanzmann, the French Jewish director who made the epic film “Shoah,” will visit The Hebrew University of Jerusalem on Monday, April 8, Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day. He will be a guest of the Koebner Center for German History at the university and will participate in a discussion of his film with students in a seminar on German History in the 20th century as interpreted in films.  

The seminar will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the Mt. Scopus campus of the university. Journalists are invited to attend the seminar and/or to interview Lanzmann before or after the seminar. Those wishing to attend should notify the Division of Marketing and Communication at 02-5882811 in advance.

Professor Moshe Zimmermann, head of the Koebner Center, said he was very grateful that Lanzmann agreed to come to The Hebrew University and meet with students in the seminar, since “Shoah” was one of the important cinematic achievements in documenting Holocaust history..
