The 75th meeting of the Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

The 75th meeting of the Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem began brilliantly on Thursday, June 6th, at the foot of Masada, with the premier performance of CARMEN, led by by Maestro Daniel Oren, and attended by President Shimon Peres.

Along with the University program, many unique visits and activities were offered to the European Friends, starting on Friday afternoon with an exclusive tour of the home and studio of the renowned israeli artist Michal Rovner. During this visit, our 30 European participants had the privilege to discover and understand Michal’s latest work and creation.

On Saturday, following the round table discussions of the morning, a lunch, gathering fifty European guests, was organized in honor of Monique Canto-Sperber, French Honorary Doctorate and Robert Cohen Skalli (president for UHJ-Belgium for the past 4 years), Belge Honorary Fellow.

The visit of the Israel museum , the intense emotion of Monique Canto-Sperber  during the ceremony of honorary doctorates, the generous and friendly dinner hosted by Jacqueline Frydman for the European Friends who came to surround Monique Canto-Sperber, made of Sunday  one of the most memorable day.

Some enthusiastic and adventurous participants chose to conclude their stay in Israel bythe visit of the remarkable site of Mitzpe Ramon while enjoying the exquisite Beresheet hotel.

In addition to this dedicated program, the European Friends have followed with interest the conferences, award ceremonies, cocktail receptions, laboratory visits of the Medical campus of Ein Kerem, organized for the 250 participants of this Board meeting 2012.

For many Friends of the University throughout the world, this annual meeting was as each time, the highlight of the year. Join us for our next gathering, from June 13th to 20th 2013 to share an exceptional BOG program organized jointly with the Conference of President Shimon Peres: Facing Tomorrow.
